This course is for beginners wishing to pursue vocal art. It covers all the basics of singing, such as body awareness, correct breathing and technique, rhythm, stage presentation and working with a band. It is meant to prepare the young learner for any further ventures in music.

Western Vocal Intermediate

The first half of this level, you will learn advanced harmonic concepts such as church modes and seventh chords as well as advanced rhythmic concepts such as odd meters. Additionally, you will familiarise with the rhythmic, melodic and harmonic idioms of jazz music and learn about its components and evolution.
In the second half of the level, you will work on exercises that will help build your stamina and improve your command over breath support, sound projection, dynamics, embellishments, vibrato, and register switches. You will be introduced to the ballad style of singing and learn how to phrase and deliver lyrics at slower tempos. Lastly, you will be guided and encouraged to find your own style, sound and aesthetic. You will also listen, analyse, and transcribe songs from a variety of contemporary artists

Grade Examinations
This will give you an insight on all the techniques and skills you would need to sail through your Trinity College exam. The program will get you geared up and ready for the various tests & assessments which are a part of the TCL exam. This training will help you understand the different methods and help you choose the perfect pieces for your Western Vocals exam. The workshop will focus on aspects such as singing in chromatic scale, vowel exercises & other such elementary vocal exercises to get you performance ready. Students will also learn aural skills/ ear test and practice routines by the end of the training.
